The Benefits of Having an Essential Oil Diffuser in Your Home

2017-05-15 00:00:00 -0500 + CC

By now I'm sure you have heard of essential oils & diffusers - you know they emit amazing scents, but did you know that they have a number of health benefits as well? Diffusers use an intense vibration in water to create a purified vapor(think of the way a waterfall smashing against rock creates a mist). The mist alone acts like a humidifier to moisten the dry air which will help combat dry skin and sinuses. Adding essential oils to the mix only increase the benefits! Essential oils all have different properties, so depending on the ones you choose, you will notice different effects. They can help alleviate symptoms of stress & depression, destroy airborne bacteria, developallergen immunities, reduce inflammation in the body, help you sleep..the list goes on and on! Also, because the diffusers don't use heat, there is no worry about leaving them on throughout the night. Get the benefits while you sleep andthey will simply shut of when they run out of water! If you're new to the oil game and don't know where to start, Saje has createda handy starter pack of their top 6 blends! Check out each oils benefits below. "CALM. INSPIRING. SWEET. Recreate the peaceful, renewing experience of the spa wherever you are with this calming and uplifting blend of eucalyptus, grapefruit and benzoin. Any room can feel like your own restful sanctuary." Let it all go." "PURIFYING. FRESH. WOODSY. Bring the rejuvenating feeling of a walk in the forest indoors with this blend of fresh, woodsy essential oils. An Unconventional Spring

2017-04-17 00:00:00 -0500 + CC

Year after year, Spring weather brings on a barrage of pastels - a welcomed change from the Wintery hues we seem to spend so long in here in Saskatchewan. In 2017 however, it’s going to be an unconventional season for colour, so make room in your wardrobe for some new tones! Alongside your pretty pinks, pack some punch with Pantone’s newest palette. This year they released the colour of the year as “Greenery”. “Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.” It is such a beautiful & bold tone that pairs nicely with pinks, blues, oranges and literally every neutral you can think of. If bright scares you, take it on in moderation. An accessory or shoe is an easy way to adapt the trends without having to overhaul your closet. If you are ready to go all in, we have the perfect pieces for you to nab. Tag us in your spring looks & show us how you’ve styled them! Use the hashtag #GotItAtCornwall - Happy Shopping :) 1. Gift Giving Made Easy…. Follow the Rule of Four

2016-12-06 00:00:00 -0600 + CC

You probably already know this from first-hand experience, but when it comes to buying gifts for the holidays, it’s very easy to overdo it. It can be even worse when you have kids on your Christmas list. How often have bought a few too many gifts just so you can put more under the Christmas tree? While the gifts are appreciated, they can barely remember everything they got only a few days later! Instead of buying a dozen things your kids might “like”, implement this new gift-giving standard. Something they want – Keep a running list on your phone throughout the year of gifts they mention they would like during any gift-giving season. If you haven’t been so great at pre-planning your gift buying, sit them down and have them create the list for you right there and then. Also helpful, share this list with family members, too! Something they need – Are their pajamas becoming tattered, or could they really use a new pair of runners? It’s about paying attention to the things they use every day, and it will surprise them that you noticed the need for a new ____ (whatever that gift may be). Something to wear – Everyone loves getting a new outfit for Winter, even kids! Something to read – If they are receiving books as a gift, they will begin to understand how important learning is and are more likely to continue the habit of reading regularly. Plus, four gifts can fit almost any budget. You could spend $10 or less on three of the gifts, then spend more to buy one larger, more elaborate gift. Here’s our picks for a few of the hottest gifts for kids this Christmas. CC Tip – Check out the great selection of toys and games at Hudson’s Bay, Sears, and Calendar Club!

What To Wear: Holiday Soirée

2016-11-07 00:00:00 -0600 + CC

I don’t do Winter well. As soon as I begin to notice the skies turning dark from my office windows, or feel the drastic drop in temperature, I want to pull away from the outside world and hole up inside my home under a warm blanket until the snow melts and Spring is in sight. While I avoid venturing out into the darkness on most occasions, there is one affair that I simply cannot turn down -- a holiday soiree! Whether it is an office function, or a holiday party with friends or family, I will always be the first to RSVP with a “heck yes!”. While I do enjoy socializing (you could call me a “social butterfly”) and catching up with old friends, my favourite part about attending a special holiday party is getting glam for the big event. We’ve put together our picks for swoon-worthy holiday outfits and beauty looks that are bound to make you the star of the show! For more outfit inspiration, head on over to our Pinterest board. How To Organize Your Life: Part 2

2016-10-20 00:00:00 -0500 + CC

The most wonderful time of the year is approaching, which means our lives are about to get busier and a lot more stressful. The best medicine: simplify, minimize, and reduce. We get that letting go is hard. It’s easier to hold on to something than to give it up. Most often, we avoid letting go because its perceived as being more time consuming than just stuffing it under the rug and putting it out of mind. This week, challenge yourself to stop procrastinating and clear your life of clutter and stress with these five beginner steps. 1. Clean out your wallet: Rummage through your wallet and throw away any unused rewards cards, business cards, or anything that no longer applies. You know that old gift card you’ve been holding on to since your birthday… five years ago? Check the balances on all of your gift cards – most companies include a website or a phone number to call on the back of the card – then write it on your card. No more second guessing if you can get an extra treat with your coffee! 2. Cut out unnecessary expenses: Take a look at your bills and decide if there are any expenses that can be reduced or cut out of your life completely. Slim down your TV package or opt for a cost-efficient alternative. Do you have memberships at more than one gym, but barely make it to either? Whittle it down to one membership or credits for workout classes at one fitness centre and cancel the rest. 3. Clear out your fridge and kitchen pantry: Truth time – there is at least one item in your pantry that is expired. Am I right? Do a complete deep clean of your fridge and pantry, including throwing out expired food, donating any canned goods that you no longer need, and wash shelves. While you’re at it, get rid of any chipped dinnerware or glassware, souvenir shot glasses (when are you going to use all 20 of them at once?) and bent or mismatched cutlery. 4. Limit your technology time: Most of us spend a large chunk of our day in front of a computer. Crack down on your screen time after office hours and invest in yourself by engaging in activities that will foster your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Go for a walk, read a book, or go for coffee with friends. 5. Organize your dresser: Throw away every sock or piece of underwear that has a hole in it. Then, organize the items in your dressers into neat piles. You’ll thank yourself later when you’re looking for that one top in a drawer full of this-and-that (plus, it won’t be wrinkly)! CC Tip – We are still accepting clothing donations! Spend the weekend organizing your dresser and closet, and bring us anything you no longer need. For every 5lbs of clothing you donate, you’ll receive one ballot to enter to win a $500 shopping spree! The more you donate, the more chances you have to win! Items can be dropped off at the Guest Services desk (on the Main Level across from Sears) until Sunday, October 23rd. All donations go to the National Diabetes Trust Clothesline Program.

How To Organize Your Life: Part 1

2016-10-12 00:00:00 -0500 + CC

The start of every new season is the perfect opportunity to change out your closet. Usually you get a few new things, that are either in-style or just new, just because. But how do you make room for all your new purchases? What seems like a daunting task can really help get you organized and de-clutter your mind. So, step up to the plate and take the “Closet Clean-out Challenge” with these four steps! 1. Make some tough decisions Follow the one year rule. Are there pieces of clothing that you haven’t touched in a year? Then it’s time to part ways. What are the chances you’re going to wear it now if you haven’t already? Try it on! If it doesn’t fit, or you don’t like the way it looks, it’s time to kick it to the curb. 2. Invest in staple items Stock up on items that can transition from season to season, like tees, tanks, cardigans, knee-length skirts, and pants. Check out these three transitional outfit inspirations that flow with the change of the seasons. 3. Stash your Summer clothes Some items are easy to transition from season to season, however, there are some that are strictly meant for Summer. Store it away out of your closet, so that the items suitable for this season are easily accessible on the fly. 4. Donate! Once you’ve whittled down your closet to make room for some new garments (we get it… once you see an item that catches your eye, you’ve just got to have it!), make a plan to get rid of the items you no longer need. CC Tip - We’re got just the solution where you can give a little, and get a lot! Bring your gently used clothing to Cornwall Centre. For every 5lbs of clothing you donate, you’ll receive one ballot to enter to win a $500 shopping spree! The more you donate, the more chances you have to win! Items can be dropped off at the Guest Services desk (on the Main Level across from Sears) between October 17th and 23rd. All donations go to the National Diabetes Trust Clothesline Program.

How To: Dress for Family Photos

2016-09-26 00:00:00 -0500 + CC

Earlier this year, a friend of mine asked me to help her choose outfits for her engagement photos. “Piece of cake”, I thought. We searched online for outfit combinations, visited a few stores at Cornwall Centre, and she ended up choosing a cute, casual look for her and her fiancé. Their outfits fit their personalities perfectly and the whole process just seemed so easy. While she stressed over the details, I had a hard time comprehending her anxiety. Fast forward a few months later, and it was now my turn to style my fiancé and I for our own engagement photos. I searched the Internet tirelessly for outfit ideas, visited every store in Cornwall Centre to get inspiration, and drove my fiancé crazy with “Should I buy this?” texts. The stress I never understood was finally setting in. These are photo we will be sharing with our family and friends, and photos we’d like to look back on in the years to come, so the pressure was on to be sure they turned out great. To help you avoid the same stress I endured, here’s a list of tips to help you choose your outfits and ensure you complement one another. Comfort matters: If you have to jump up and down into your jeans to get them on, you might want to opt for something that will allow you to move more freely. It can get bothersome if you are constantly pulling at or adjusting your clothing while transitioning into different poses. Plus, the more confident you feel in your clothes, the better you will look in front of the camera. Similarly, kids look uber-adorable in hats, tutus, and jackets, but if they aren’t comfortable, you are in for one miserable shoot. Remember to keep weather in mind if you are planning an outdoor shoot! Complement one another: Gone are the days of wearing matching outfits. Instead, choose a colour palette and mix and match colors so that everyone flows and coordinates with one another. Limit patterns: An outfit with texture and patterning is great when added into a mix of solid colours, however, if there are multiple patterns in a photo, it can be distracting in the final image. Limit to one patterned outfit within the family, or choose patterns that are subtle and complementary. Play with textures: Don’t be afraid to wear a scarf, belt, or chunky accessories. It adds dimension and a personal touch to your outfit. Don’t hesitate on using subtle props, too! A blanket that matches your colour pallet works well to sit on or wrap around the subjects. Avoid black clothing and logos: Steer clear of black as it can highlight every piece of lint or loose hairs in the final image. Stick with solid or patterned tops and avoid large writing or images. Play off the location: Consider your surroundings when picking colors for your outfit. If your photos are in a park, a green dress might camouflage you with the grass and trees. A complimentary color, such as red, would pop against the green to help you stand out. For a calm vibe, a cool blue or beige would look stunning. If your photos will be in more of an urban setting, like in front of an old, brick building, try bold hues to contrast with the gritty background. CC Tip - Most importantly… Be yourself: Choose clothing for you and your family that highlights your everyday style and personality. This session is not your opportunity to try a new fashion-forward outfit that you wouldn’t normally wear. Need a little inspiration? See how we’ve paired clothing for Mom, Dad, and the kids in two different colour combinations. Find these looks: 1. STRETCH 1969 true skinny super high rise jeans, $79.95 (Gap) 2. One Season, Two Looks

2016-09-08 00:00:00 -0500 + CC

The arrival of a new season brings a time of change. On the cusp of Fall, we overhaul our closets, our home décor, even our hair and makeup to fit with the latest trends. Whether you are shy or adventurous with your beauty choices, here are the makeup looks we’re loving this Fall! SUGAR: Subtle & Fresh The fresh faced, barely-there makeup trend from Summer has continued into the Fall season. Glam up a subtle look with metallic eyes and add a tinge of cranberry to your standard nude lip. SPICE: Rich Hues Smoky eyes, smudged eye liner, and oxblood or deep purple lips are smouldering during the chilly temperatures. CC Tip – Don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone… but don’t overhaul your look all at once. If you are accustomed to little to no makeup, try a bolder lip for date night. Or, play with a smoked out eye for a special occasion. If you feel comfortable with the change, experiment with it on a normal day, say at work or a Saturday running errands. Visit the beauty experts at Sephora, Hudson’s Bay, and Shoppers Drug Mart to help you try on a new look!

Back to School Survival Guide

2016-08-23 00:00:00 -0500 + CC

When I was a youngster, back to school was my most favourite time of the year. Or, should I say, back to school shopping was my most favourite time of the year. Through elementary into high school, I would drag my Mom to the store to pick out the most stylish backpack I could find, funky binders and notebooks, pens, pencil cases, and basically every locker accessory you could think of! The first day of school was like my January 1st – it was my chance to start fresh for a whole new year! However fun heading back to school may be for some, we get that it can be overwhelming for others. How do you keep track of all of the homework and assignment due dates? How do you prepare yourself for exams? We hear you, and we’ve compiled our survival guide tips to help transition you back into the swing of things for another school year. Stay Organized: My agenda is literally my best friend and is the holy grail of keeping your life in order. Never miss an assignment, exam, or group meeting ever again! Parents, this goes for you too! Juggle that work meeting with your kids’ band practice, basketball game, or PTA interview with ease. Take notes in class! It will make your life so much easier at the end of the year, and you’re more likely to remember what you’ve learned if you force yourself to write it down! A pencil pouch will help keep all of your note-taking necessities in hand at all times. There’s nothing worse than frantically scrummaging for a pen or pencil during class. Carrying the Weight of the World: Carrying books, binders, notebooks, writing tools, and other necessities in your arms can be tiring (not to mention a really good arm workout). A backpack can help alleviate the strain on your arms, and allows for you to carry more things at once, a time-saving alternative to making multiple trips back to your locker in between classes. Boost Your Brainpower: Your brain needs nutrients to take in and understand all of the new information you’ll be learning. Plan ahead and pack nutritious lunch and snacks – a lunch kit will help you carry everything you need. Hydrate to stay focused and alert. Specialty teas (like the Get Smart tea from DAVIDsTEA) can help keep you sharp and on top of your game. Jump In, Feet First: Keep your feet comfy with practical footwear. Chances are you’re going to be doing a lot of walking from class to class, so be sure you’ve got something on your feet that can get you from A, to B, back to A, to C, to… CC Tip: Enjoy every minute! Make new friends, get involved in extra-curricular activities, and study hard.

Throw the Best Canada Day BBQ Bash!

2016-06-26 19:00:00 -0500 + CC

Canada Day is just around the corner, and we’ve made big plans to celebrate with friends and family. If you’ve volunteered to play host, we’ve gathered the most important tips on how to throw the best Canada Day BBQ bash! Go Potluck Style: Nobody’s got time to spend a beautiful Summer day in the kitchen. Ask your guests to each bring a dish to share – you’ll have plenty to feed the entire group, and a variety to satisfy everyone’s palate! Pick Easy, Classic Recipes… With a Twist!: Don’t break the bank buying exotic ingredients you’ll only use once. Go simple with burgers and hot dogs or steak and chicken with pasta salad and a veg. Make your dish “pop” by adding different spices and flavours, like mango chipotle seasoning to your grilled corn! Cold Cocktails: There’s no BYOB here, be a friendly neighbour and serve a signature cocktail. Get a great beverage dispenser (like the one featured below) and fill with ice to keep it cold. Tunes: No party is complete without your favourite Summer jams! A wireless/Bluetooth speaker is perfect to keep the fun going all night long. Make your own playlist, or check out other free music streaming apps, like Songza or Apple Music, on your smartphone. Don’t forget the necessities! Here’s a few items you may want to pick-up when planning your party. 1.Mix your signature cocktail and serve with the WholeHome Clear Glass Dispenser with Metal Stand (Sears, $49.99) and Cottage Mug Set of 4 Glasses (Stokes, $11.99). 2.King/Queen of the Grill. Our Favourite Spring Fashion Trends

2016-03-09 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

It’s official: once the fabulous florals and pretty pastels hit the floor, you know that Spring is on its way! As soon as I get that first taste of warm weather, which hasn’t been hard to come by this year, I immediately begin stalking my favourite stores’ Instagram accounts and switch from pinning for my non-existent, dream wedding to cute Spring outfit inspiration. What I love about Spring is how it radiates this amazing, upbeat feeling – it’s contagious! I slowly crawl out of hibernation and begin to partake in my favourite outdoor activities that I have missed so much. My new, joyful outlook not only rubs off onto others, it also extends into my fashion choices! Traditional Fall and Winter fashion choices include muted or jewel-toned and heavy pieces, whereas Spring evokes bright and refreshing colours and fabrics. It’s difficult to overhaul your entire wardrobe, so that’s why we’ve compiled a few of our favourite Spring picks to help rejuvenate your Spring wardrobe and keep you looking flirty and fresh all the way into Summer! Stripped T-shirt Dress :: Garage // AEO Boyfriend Plaid Shirt :: American Eagle // Printed Modern Chic Short Skirt :: RW&CO. What's In My Makeup Bag

2016-02-11 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

I love Valentine’s Day. “Why”, you may ask? It’s because it is one of the few occasions that instigates Date Night! Although we may promise to make more plans to go out and enjoy quality time with our sweetheart, just the two of us, our hectic schedules seem to always get in the way. Before you know it, months have passed by and there has been very little free time to treat our significant other to a romantic excursion away from the house and our daily stresses of life. Date Nights are my excuse to get dolled up. It’s easy for me to fall into a routine where I don’t experiment beyond pony tails and a swipe or two of mascara. But, getting dressed up in a figure-flattering dress and trying a new makeup look is a huge confidence booster. It makes me feel like a new and re-energized woman! This year, we had to celebrate the Day of Love a little early. I wanted my makeup to be striking and different from every other normal day. This was a special occasion, of course! My new look definitely turned some heads, but the only one that really mattered was his. Here is a peek into what was in my makeup bag last night (bag included!) Try a new makeup trend, and then let us know all about it! We love hearing your tips and reviews on beauty products!

Resolutions: Healthy Eating

2016-01-13 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

I am a big advocate of eating healthy. I try my best to avoid those bad-for-you foods, but working downtown doesn’t always make it so easy. Someone always wants to meet for lunch, or I have less than 10 minutes in between my noon workout and my next meeting to grab a quick lunch-on-the-go. One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to make smarter meal choices! There are tons of quick and healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options at Cornwall Centre to make running from one meeting to another that much easier! Here are our favourite spots to grab a healthy bite on-the-go. Extreme Pita I love pitas, and Extreme Pita definitely knows how to make ‘em. Their pitas come stuffed with fresh ingredients and unique flavours. I can’t help but try something new every time I stop by. My current favourite is the Buffalo Chicken, and sometimes, when I’m feeling adventurous, I will order it as a Flatbaked Pita – it’s like a pizza, but so much better! And they are made fresh to order, so I can pick and choose the ingredients that go in it. There’s something for everyone on their menu! Booster Juice Have you ever felt like you can never make something as good as someone else can? That’s how I feel about smoothies. I enjoy sipping on a smoothie every once in a while, especially on a hot day or when I’m feeling under the weather, but I am never satisfied when I make it on my own. That’s why I stop at Booster Juice. Not only are there tons of delicious smoothies to choose from, many of their smoothies use one-of-a-kind ingredients that I would never think to put in my smoothies at home. My favourites are the Brazilian Thunder, which uses the antioxidant-rich, immune-stimulating, and energy-boosting fruit, the acai berry, as well as the Matcha Monsoon, made with Matcha green tea! Plus, they have equally delicious food items like wraps and paninis should you be craving a bit more out of your meal. Freshii Whether I have limited time to reach for breakfast or grab a quick lunch, I know Freshii has me covered. My favourite thing about Freshii is the unique items on their menu. If I am running late in the morning, I stop for a Grilled Egg Pocket (basically a grilled wrap filled with tons of protein and feel-good ingredients) or Home-Made Oatmeal and a juice. Their juice combinations may seem a bit bizarre to some, but they are totally delicious! At lunch, I love their Burritos or a nice healthy salad. OPA! of Greece I had never explored the options at OPA! of Greece, until we ordered in lunch for the office a few months back. I was blown away by how fresh and tasty everything was! Plus, there are tons of meal combinations to fit any dietary restriction! Keep it simple with a Low Carb Caesar or Greek Salad (and six different proteins to choose from!) or satisfy your hunger and get a little bit of everything with the OPA! Platter. ZamZam Wraps I am very impressed with the menu at ZamZam Wraps. Not only is everything so fresh, they also have a variety of gluten free and vegan options. Did I mention their whole grain bread has ZERO cholesterol, trans-fat, saturated fat, and preservatives?! Plus, when sides are only $2.50 each, you are guaranteed to go back to the office feeling satisfied, and craving your next flavour adventure! CC Tip – There are many more healthy options throughout Cornwall Centre’s Food Court. If you want to know more, visit their websites - most vendors have easily accessible nutritional information so you can be aware of the contents of your meal. Don’t forget to throw in a cheat meal or snack every once in a while to keep yourself motivated – you deserve a little treat for your hard work!

Resolutions: Fitness

2016-01-06 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

Now that the Season of Indulgence is winding down, most of us have started to think about what we want to achieve in 2016. The most popular New Year’s Resolution each year is to lose weight. I will admit that I have set this goal for myself from year to year. If you’ve decided to lose weight this year, my advice to you is to stick with it by changing your perspective on your Resolution. Don’t aim to lose weight, but rather to feel more confident in your body, focus on the way your clothes fit, or increase your physical strength or endurance. You are much more likely to feel satisfied in reaching your goal by the end of the year if you take the focus off of the number on the scale. Now, get out there and try something new! Hit the weights, go for a run, or join a group fitness class with a friend! Don’t forget to pick the right workout clothes for your activity. Here are our picks for active wear to keep you motivated and feeling comfortable while you are sweating it out. Bottoms CC Tip – Choose a bottom that you can move freely in and feel comfortable in. There’s nothing worse than feeling restricted when trying to master lunges, or pulling down on the fabric of your shorts or crops when they keep bunching up on you. 1. Run: Speed Short *4-way stretch :: lululemon ($54) – To keep you cool and comfortable from training day to race day. 2. Sweaty Endeavour Short :: lululemon ($54) – Full coverage to move with you on the gym floor or yoga mat. 3. Wunder Under Crop :: lululemon ($88) – So much stretch, you’ll feel more flexible than ever! 1. GapFit gFast bold print leggings :: Gap ($74.95) – Will withstand rigorous workouts, like running, TRX, or cycling. 2. All The Right Places Pant :: lululemon ($128) – These pockets are perfect to store your iPod while running or lifting weights! No more cleavage-holder (guilty). 3. Baddah G Legging :: Bench. ($59) – Great to wear to sweat or for fun! Shoes CC Tip #1 – Be sure to choose the right shoe for the intended activity. Most sneakers are meant for a specific type of exercise. Weight training or cross training shoes have less support than running shoes, and wearing them while running can result in strain or injury. Trust me, I know from experience! CC Tip #2 – Worn-down sneakers can result in the lack of support and can cause injuries. If you are in the gym at least three times a week, you’ll probably need to replace your shoes every 8-12 months. If you increase your gym time up to six times a week, the life span of your sneakers shortens to every 3-6 months. If you do a lot of running, every 5-8 months is recommended. 1. Nike Roche One :: Foot Locker ($98) - Ideal for running. 2. Nike Air Max Siren :: Foot Locker ($130) - Ideal for running. 3. Nike In-Season Trainer 4 :: Foot Locker ($99.99) - Ideal for weight training. Sports Bras CC Tip #1 – Be sure to choose a sports bra that gives you the right coverage you will need. Although we all want the “cute” bra, it is much more important to choose one that you will feel comfortable in and that will withstand the level of intensity of your workout. CC Tip #2 - The more you wear your bra, the more you’ll have to wash it, which means, the quicker you will weaken its elasticity. Depending on the amount of exercise you do, it is recommended to replace it every 3-12 months. To increase the longevity of your sports bra and to preserve the elastic, hang dry instead of putting it in the dryer. 1. Free To Be Bra *Wild :: lululemon ($48) – Plenty of room to flow, twist and sweat through any yoga class. Intended to provide light support. 2. Medium impact T-back sports bra :: Gap ($44.95) – Designed for medium impact workouts, from weight training to running and cycling. 3. Energy Bra :: lululemon ($48) - A wide band under the bust provided support and the coverage in front ensures we're not exposing our assets. Tops CC Tip – A proper workout top is much more comfortable, and suitable, than the old shirts you’ve stolen from your ex-boyfriend. Opt for a tank with a built-in bra – it’s like getting 2 for 1! 1. GapFit Breathe heathered tank :: Gap ($22.95) – This breathable, lightweight knit will keep you cool during your workout. 2. Power Y Tank :: lululemon ($52) – To keep you flowing freely in this thin-strapped, racerback tank. 3. Enhearten Tank :: Lululemon ($58) – A strappy-back, scoop-neck tank that's designed to hold you in place during your workout, with the help of a built-in bra! For the Guys 1. Metal Vent Tech SS :: lululemon ($68) – This sweat-wicking, all-sport crew was built with anti-stink properties to keep you fresh for longer. 2. Pace Breaker Short :: lululemon ($64) - Designed to be your athletic go-to short, with a COOLMAX boxer-brief liner that is comfortable and sweat- wicking. 3. Nike Free 5.0 :: Foot Locker ($130) - Perfect for running. We wish you all the best in 2016! Happy sweating!

Being an adult is expensive. Mortgage/rent, bills, groceries, children’s extracurricular activities… we get it! It seems like there is always one expense after another, and let’s not forget those pesky “surprises” that pop up every now and then. For me; a new house, being asked to be a bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding (twice), and my first niece expected to arrive at any moment; my disposal income is quickly diminishing. This year we picked names and set a limit: $100 or less. What might seem impossible was actually really easy! There are tons of gifts that your family will love that won’t break your bank. Ladies, we love our men. Fathers, brothers, husbands, boyfriends – no matter how much they push our buttons, we can’t live without them! I find it adorable watching men shop for Christmas gifts for their special lady. They put so much effort in to getting us the perfect gift that we will love, why shouldn’t we do the same for them? But choosing a gift for them is not always as easy as we’d think. Every Christmas, I spend weeks planning what to get the men in my life. Holiday Gift Guide - Gifts for Her

2015-12-09 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

Guys, women aren’t as hard to buy for as you think. We drop hints A LOT. “I need a new jacket.” “Have you seen the new Sparkle Ball colour? I love it!” And the ever-so-famous, blunt email or text of a photo or link to the item we really want. We are very vocal about what we like and what we don’t like. We are very descriptive as to the size, colour, even fabric of the gift. Last year, we tried to buy a scarf for Grandma as that is the one thing she really wanted. Out of the entire family, no one was able to get her one she liked. She still doesn’t have a new scarf… …On second though, I take my first comment back. Women are difficult. Luckily, we have compiled our top Christmas gifts for those special gals in your life. Kate Spade Metro 5 O’Clock :: Spareparts ($215) Riddel Wine Tumblers – Set of 2 :: Stokes (Reg. $23.99, Sale Price $17.89) Sparkle Ball Stud Earrings 12mm :: Hillberg & Berk ($80) Raglan Tee and Legging Pajama Set :: La Senza ($36.50) White lock top travel mug :: DAVIDs TEA ($32) Sephora Collection Deluxe Antibacterial Brush Set :: Sephora ($75) Sparkle Ball Bracelet :: Hillberg & Berk ($265) Spiced Apple Toddy 3 Wick Candle :: Bath & Body Works ($22) Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette :: Sephora ($70) Dry Bar The Tress Press Digital Styling Iron :: Sephora ($189) CC Tip - Of course, you can never go wrong with a Cornwall Centre Gift Card and let her do the picking herself! The Best Nail Polish Colours for Fall + Winter

2015-10-25 19:00:00 -0500 + CC

As a nail-biter’s only daughter, I was never taught about nail polish. Growing up in a small town, my friends and I would rather make mud pies and play sports with the boys rather than paint our nails. When I was 11, I was asked to be a junior bridesmaid in a family-friend’s wedding (my first bridal party experience, how exciting!) and got to share in the customary “day-of beauty rituals”. Suddenly, WHAM!, I fell in love with beauty products. All I wanted for my birthday and Christmas was make-up, hair tools, and nail polish. Not much has changed since then. The one thing that I own more of than anything else is nail polish. I often find nail polish bottles stuffed at the back of my drawer that I didn’t even know I had. I can walk by a nail polish stand and be stuck there for at least an hour; reading the witty colour names, comparing shade to shade, and imagining which colour would match with my outfit. Then I end up walking out with two or three new nail polishes to add to my collection. I love when a new season arrives and stores begin to stock their shelves with the new seasonal collection, or limited edition shades. I am practically hovering over the sales associates as they put out the new products. At the start of Fall, I stored away my bright and pastel shades and went on the hunt to add more vampy hues to my repertoire. I have gathered my favourite picks for Fall and Winter and am sharing them with you! Falling for Layers

2015-10-20 19:00:00 -0500 + CC

If you’re like me, you are cold ALL. THE. TIME. It’s a constant battle with the thermostat at our house. Living with two boys, they stay warm by just breathing. But for me, I could be under five blankets, wearing sweats and a hoodie, and still be cold. It’s gotten so bad, co-workers refer to me as “the girl who runs her space heater in the summer.” With the temperatures dropping each day, you’d think that I’d be panicking right now. But I am the complete opposite. I’m ecstatic, because I have discovered the concept of layering. Not only does layering keep me warm, but I get to wear multiple of my favourite items at once! Layering for lazy nights at home is easy, but how do you create a cozy outfit that is work-friendly and transitional for date night? Here are my tips on how to put together a perfectly layered outfit, for work or play: Start with a basic, light-weight top. I am obsessed with stripes right now, but a plain tee works just as well. Add a second layer, such as a button-up cardigan, pull-over sweater, a denim jacket, or even a blazer. Be sure to let your first layer peek out wherever possible under your second layer. Next, add a coat or jacket. Choose a neutral or basic colour so that it is not clashing with your second layer. Add a colourful or patterned scarf. Finish it off with additional accessories, such as bracelets, rings, watches, and a hat or beanie CC Style Tips: Worried about over-heating? Ditch a layer! Skip the jacket and wear a long sleeved top with a puffy vest, or wear a sweater dress and tights under a wooly trench. Keep the under-layers more fitted to avoid looking bulky. You will be pilling the layers on top of one another, and that should be enough to keep you warm. If it’s really chilly outside, wear something heavier as the top-most layer only. Don’t be afraid to mix and match. Play with different textured pieces, mix patterns, and incorporate light and colourful hues. Forget the boring rules, if you like it, wear it! What favourite piece from your closet do you use the most to incorporate into your layered ensemble? HOW TO: BOOTIES

2015-09-29 19:00:00 -0500 + CC

It’s time for me to share with you my deepest and darkest secret: I have pairs upon pairs of the cutest ankle boots (or booties) lying at the bottom of my closet… that I have never worn. You may think I’m crazy (and no, I don’t have a shoe collection large enough that I have extra pairs to spare), but the reason being is that I just don’t know how to wear them. When I see a fashionista who makes her bootie + outfit combos look so ultra-amazing, I want to immediately run out and buy a new pair of my own. But frustration sets in when I just can’t get it right. What do I do with the bottom hem of my pants? Am I supposed to wear socks inside my boots? Can I wear booties with a skirt to the office? Have you been there, too? Well, things are about to change! I’ve done a little bit of research, a little bit of experimenting (the fun part!) and I have come up with five ways we can rock our booties like the stylish bombshells we are! TUCKED Tuck your pants into your bootie to give the illusion of an elongated leg. Most jeans are not fitted enough at the ankles, so opt for leggings to make this look successful. I never thought to try it with leggings before! ROLLED HEM Rolling or cuffing the bottom hem of your jeans keeps your ankles from looking wide and shows off the slim area of your leg. This look works best with skinny jeans. LAYERED SOCKS & LEGGINGS This is a bit more difficult to pull off, but makes for a great fall look. Don’t layer socks over your jeans, though, it will only cause bulkiness and create that wide-ankle effect that we don’t want! WITH A SKIRT & TIGHTS Use the same monochromatic colour of tights, skater or pencil skirt, and booties to make your legs look slimmer. Try black with black, brown with brown, or grey with grey. Add a fun, patterned top to brighten around your face and add a pop of colour to your outfit. WITH A DRESS OR PENCIL SKIRT (SANS TIGHTS) This is the perfect look to help ease your transition from summer to fall. Keep the hem above the knee to elongate your leg line. Choose a neutral bootie to avoid your outfit from being too dramatic on the bottom. You want to keep their eyes up, so everyone can see your dazzling smile! CC Style Tip: Stock up on a couple pairs of neutral coloured booties, and at least one vibrant pair. The neutral booties will mix and match with multiple outfits, while the vibrant pair will add a pop of colour to an otherwise drab ensemble. Which bootie inspiration will you wear tomorrow? Fall Fashion Must-Haves

2015-09-22 19:00:00 -0500 + CC

Let’s face it, fall is the best season of them all. No, it’s not because of the pumpkin spiced lattes or the Thanksgiving turkey dinners; it’s the comfy sweaters, knee-high boots, and layers upon layers of cozy goodness. As soon as the temperature starts to drop (although, in Saskatchewan, the weather has a mind of its own) and the leaves begin to turn a golden tinge, all I can think about is throwing on my snug cardigan and taking a walk downtown to meet up with friends for coffee, or in my case, a soy milk, sugar-free vanilla London Fog. To kick off the First Day of Autumn, I am sharing my favourite garments for fall and how you can pair them with other items in your closet to create a stand-out look. PLAID Plaid is my go-to fall fashion favourite. I secretly wish it was mandatory to wear plaid for the entire season. Although plaid comes in almost all colours, I am a sucker for the classic. Something about the vibrant, lumberjack-esque red gives me that warm, cozy feeling as soon as I put it on. And the best thing about plaid is that you can use it as a wardrobe staple to create more than one look. Pair your plaid with a faux fur vest, black leggings, and top off with a pair of tall grey riding boots. Or, try plaid tucked into your favourite pair of dark denim jeans. TRENCH COAT My latest obsession: the trench. Never have I ever cared about what my fall jacket looked like, until now. I cannot get over how adorable and versatile the trench coat is! It exudes a professional vibe, yet is comfortable and classy for weekend errands or a night out with the beau (or girlfriends!). A neutral, beige trench is an easy layering piece paired with a plain white or grey tee and jeans for a relaxed and effortless look. CHAMBRAY I didn’t grow up in an “authentic” small town, but I love the country lifestyle. And, the #1 essential for a country girl’s closet is a chambray shirt. I have attended a ton of country music concerts in the last few years and have noticed my fellow country ladies are reviving the denim-on-demin trend from the ‘90’s. Chambray button ups are a modern twist on the denim jacket and pair well with a variety of pieces of all textures and colours. What I once thought was a “fashion faux pas”, now seems to be one of my favourite looks for fall. A light chambray shirt works well tucked into dark denim jeans. Add a cream or grey cardigan to create a casual, comfy look. Swap your dark denim jeans with white pants for a work-friendly uniform. CC Style Tip: Invest in versatile items that can be paired with other pieces in your closet to provide you with multiple looks and can carry you into the next season. There are far too many cute fall trends to try them all on the ordinary girl’s budget. What fall fashion trends are you obsessing over? SHOP THESE LOOKS Look 1 Plaid relaxed boyfriend shirt (in Red Plaid), The Gap :: Natalie Jegging (in Black Wash), RW&CO :: Sleeveless faux fur vest (in Reddish Brown), RW&CO :: Bawen (in Grey), Spring Shoes Look 2 Modern crew tee (in Heather Grey or White), The Gap :: Classic trench (in Chino Academy), The Gap :: 1969 resolution true skinny high rise jeans (in Rinsed) Look 3 1969 chambray shirt (in Light Indigo), The Gap :: Open front dolman sleeve cardigan (in Brown Heather), The Gap :: 1969 resolution true skinny high rise jeans (in Rinsed)

Juice Cleanse at Freshii

2015-06-21 19:00:00 -0500 + CC

Summer is officially here! I’ve started stocking up on sunscreen, bug spray, flip flops and bathing suits so I’m ready to go whenever the sun is out. This summer, I've decided that I want to feel my best – take care of my body and feel confident and energetic so I can make the most out of my favourite season. Freshii recently introduced a Juice Cleanse. Juicing is a natural way to press your body’s reset button and super-charge your nutrient intake. With the Freshii Juice Cleanse, you receive 4 different juices to drink every 2.5-3 hours, and eat a detoxifying salad to finish the day. You should drink 8-10 glasses of water per day in addition to the juices. Choose between their “Quickie” 1-day cleanse, “Determined” 3-day cleanse, and “Focused” 5-day cleanse to detoxify and energize your body. The prices are very reasonable compared to many of the cleanses I’ve seen: 1-day is $30, 3-day is $80, and 5-day is $120. Simply visit or call the Cornwall Centre Freshii at 306-206-1714 to order yours and they will prepare your freshly pressed juice and detoxifying salad for pick-up each day of your cleanse. WOOHOO for Summer! **A Note from Freshii: It is strongly advised that you consult your physician before participating in a juice cleanse. Click here for more information.

Step 2 - Bring in the Spring

2015-03-05 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

We’re back for more Winter-Spring wardrobe transitioning. Did you make some room in your closet? Me too! Now let’s tackle Spring attire. STEP 2 – Bring in the Spring Now this is getting fun! This is when I set aside some ME time and I pick up some fashion magazines at Shoppers Drug Mart, buy a Second Cup coffee or take home some loose tea from DAVIDsTEA. It is now time to chill out with my magazines, bevy and Pinterest on my tablet to learn about what’s trending for Spring 2015. Check out the Cornwall Centre Spring 2015 Pinterest board here. Alright, now I have a vision for what I want to wear over the coming months. I take my Spring/Summer storage bin and dump everything onto my bed. I pull out everything that is really light and sheer or very ‘summery’ and put it back into the bin and whisper “I’ll see you soon.” Then I wish for ‘the snow to melt and summer weather to come on every coin I find on the ground, whenever it’s 11:11, if my eyelash falls out, birthday candles, the wishbone from an Easter turkey, and basically every other thing upon which I can wish' (What?! Don’t you do that??). I put the items that are current with Spring 2015 trends in my closet and anything left over I use the Wardrobe Editing Decision Tree (courtesy of Modern Eve) to decide to either donate or put back into my storage bin for Summer or next Spring. I think back to the looks I loved in the magazines and my Pins, and I decide on what I want to wear this Spring that isn’t already in my closet. Guess what I do next? Yep, you’re right. I call up some girlfriends and go to Cornwall Centre for a Spring Splurge.

Step 1 - Winter to Spring Transition

2015-02-24 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

In Saskatchewan, we HAVE to be pros in the art of transitioning our wardrobes from season to season. Over the next few weeks let’s prep our closets for the Winter to Spring changeover together. STEP 1 – Whittle Down the Winter Items in Your Closet The first thing I like to do is look through my winter clothes and remove the items I rarely wore or didn’t wear at all in the past few months. That bulky knit sweater that I haven’t worn all season was taking up room in my closet and it will soon take up room in my limited storage if I don’t pull it out to be donated or sold online or in a garage sale. Over the years I have taught myself to ”rip off the Band-Aid” when it comes to removing clutter from my closet and my home as I used to hold on to way too many belongings for years. If you have trouble letting go check out this really handy Wardrobe Editing Decision Tree by Modern Eve. The next thing I do is pull out any items that are Christmas or New Year’s specific; have Nordic/winter-related patterns, along with anything that is especially bulky/heavy. I immediately put those items into my winter clothing storage bin. After that step is complete, I look at the layerable sweaters I have. You know, the ones that are lightweight and/or have buttons or zippers to wear over top of my Spring tees, tanks and dresses. I use the good old decision tree to find any additional items to donate or sell. With the sweaters left, I also question if I will wear the item in Spring or if it is more of a Fall/Winter sweater. If it is more Fall/Winter, it goes into my storage bin. After these steps are done I feel good about getting rid of some clutter and donating clothing to someone in need, and I have room in my closet (YAY!). See you back here next week for Step 2.

Resolutions - Saving Money

2015-01-27 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

Saving money is always a good thing. It’s weird how quickly you can save when you ascribe to a few money saving habits. Here are “7 Easy Money Saving Tips” I’ll be using in 2015. #1 – Follow Cornwall Centre on Social Media and Sign Up for Their Newsletters The Cornwall Centre marketing team receives emails directly from retailer head offices about sales. The team also follows all the retailers on their social media, so they get all the information on the best sales going on throughout the shopping centre. If you are looking to save money like me, follow and sign-up to be in-the-know. #2 – Sign up for Newsletters from your Favourite Stores Do you love Gap, Children’s Place or Bath & Body Works? All three stores send sale information and exclusive coupons to their email list. Other stores send you coupons on your birthday, early access to sales, and information about temporary sales that are just a few hours to 1-day long - sales that you wouldn’t want to miss. Last year I saved BIG at some of the 1-day sales at Hudson’s Bay, and I also stocked up on some work clothes at RW&CO. when they had a flash sale during the afternoon. #3 – Reward/Card Programs If you love DAVIDsTEA, regularly visit Shoppers Drug Mart or Hudson’s Bay, sign up for their rewards cards and start saving points to use for money off your purchases down the road. At The Body Shop, La Senza, and American Eagle Outfitters, they have rewards cards that give you instant discounts on your purchase. #4 – Coupons Have you seen Extreme Couponing? I LOVE that show, and I love coupons. My husband teases me that I have a coupon obsession, but I don’t care! Neither should you. Don’t ever be embarrassed to pull out a coupon and save some cash. If every week you use coupons and save $5, you would save over $250 in a year. My question is “Why wouldn’t you?” A&W, Zam Zam Wraps, and other Food Court retailers mail out coupons or have them in fundraiser coupon books. Bath & Body Works gives you one to use on your next purchase, and many other stores have a coupon right on the receipt or ask you to complete a quick survey to receive a coupon for next time. #5 – Set a Budget Not only do Gift Cards make great gifts, they also make great budgeting tools! Buy a Cornwall Centre Gift Card at Guest Services with your weekly or monthly budget for coffee, lunch, shopping, and/or parking. Track your purchases and balance online at www.checkmybalance.com. It’s a really easy way to be mindful of your spending, and it’s a great reason to splurge at the end of the month if you have a nice balance left! #6 – Put $20 in an Envelope Every Week Put a $20 bill in an envelope every week and by this time next year, you'll have over $1000! If you want to save more, put in $30-$40; or if $20 is a bit too high, start with $5-$10. This is a great technique to set aside money for Christmas gifts to avoid financial strain in December. Another great idea is to save that $20/week for a year then visit Marlin Travel and go on a hot vacation (that’s what I’m going to do!). Set a weekly reminder on your phone to add to the envelope, and write the start date or the goal date on the front so you know when you can dig into that savings! #7 – Spend/Save Match Pick something that you regularly spend money on (gas, coffee, lunch, shoes) and create a spend/save match. For example: track how much you spent on coffee during the week, and then put an equal amount into your savings account. Easy-peasy. If you don't have much wiggle room in your monthly/weekly budget, choose something small. A little bit of savings is better than none at all! And, if you have more flexibility choose something bigger. Just be sure that it is manageable so you can continue to do it over time. "A penny saved is a penny earned." - Benjamin Franklin

Resolutions - Working Out

2015-01-15 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

Ok – so I’ve got my downtown healthy eating plan set (if you haven’t read it, check it out here). Now moving into another resolution of mine, getting more exercise. I usually make it to the gym about 3x per week but in 2015 I want to step up my game and increase the amount of activity I get daily. Cornwall Centre can help me with stylish exercise gear for both indoor and outdoor use. lululemon I love lululemon. I do. When they came to Regina I was thrilled. Their Cornwall Centre location has amazing staff; I enjoy every visit I make. I trust lululemon – they work really hard to bring their customers high quality, comfortable, functional and stylish athletic apparel. Among the many innovative materials lululemon uses is their signature fabric called Luon. It wicks away sweat, is breathable, soft and has 4-way stretch. They’ve also recently introduced Silverescent® fabric technology. The positive ions in Silver are attracted to the naturally occurring, negatively charged bacteria on your body that feed on sweat and create that stinky athletic aroma that builds up in your workout clothes over time. The Silverescent fabric is a stink-conquering technology woven into the very fabric of your favourite workout clothes. And it will never wash out or stop working. I buy lululemon clothing for myself and my husband for both working out and for booting around town doing errands. Visit their website for tons of information including help with goal setting; their blog full of tasty recipes, exercise tips and more; product care, and to browse their product line. Gap GapFit is Gap’s line of hi-tech gear designed with both performance and figure enhancing in mind. The Fit line is for women, and made with Gap’s exclusive signature perform fabric that’s breathable, sweat-wicking with 4-way stretch. From sport bras and leggings, tanks and capris, sweaters and long sleeve tops – the line has me covered for high and low intensity workouts. GapFit is a little more economical with most of the line ranging from $30-$80 but you can also find GapFit on sale. Eddie Bauer Eddie Bauer is all about the outdoors. Now that our kids are a bit older, we’ve decided to take them sledding and skating, and for more outdoor walks this winter. Eddie Bauer provides technology-driven, performance fabrics. A Downlight® StormDown™ Jacket is perfect if you want something light-weight, warm and also wind and water resistant. An alternative, depending on your cold-tolerance, are Eddie Bauer’s range of Down Jackets which have weather ratings like Extreme Cold, tested to -29°C and Artic Cold, tested to -34°C. You’ll also find polar lined, insulated and water-proof pants to keep you covered while out in the snow. Getting outdoors can also be a challenge when the sun goes down at 6PM! If I don’t get my kids ready before sunset, I sometimes let the lack of light be an excuse to stay indoors. I found some really great lighting options at Eddie Bauer to keep us safe and light up the night. The Nite Ize® SlapLit LED Slap Wrap is a high–visibility safety light made with a durable nylon band that has a reflective spider web design and it illuminates when you turn on the red LED. The band can be worn on your wrist, upper arm, ankle, or any tubular object and is ideal for walking, running, or cycling in low–light conditions. The battery (which comes included, bonus!) runs for 100 hours. To throw in your pocket or attach to a zipper or bag, the Highgear® Fuse LED Micro Light can be set to high, low or flashing. I’m also thinking about getting my kids a headlamp; I know they would think it would be fun to wear. Find a couple styles of lightweight headlamps with both white and red lighting and numerous settings. An evening walk will feel more like an adventure. Let’s get outside! Sears While I do resolve to get outside more in 2015, I can’t deny just how cold Saskatchewan winters can get. When the cold spells sink in, I want a back-up plan so we’re turning part of our basement into a mini-gym. It will also be an excellent option to get up earlier than the kids and get my work out done for the day…can’t wait. Sears offers a really good selection of home gym equipment. Bowlfex machines, treadmills, bikes, ellipticals and weight rack systems if you have the room. Kettle bells, Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable dumbbells, punching bags and gloves, resistance tubes, and workout DVDs like P90X and Zumba Fitness if space is tight. Or get any combination of the above! Footlocker Wearing the right shoe is so important for a successful workout; I want to be able to push myself without risking injury. At Footlocker, they sell every type of shoe you could need. Casual, training, running, or basketball, their staff helped me find the right pair for the types of activities I enjoy. I also appreciate that Footlocker is stocked with brands I trust like Adidas, Nike, Asics, New Balance, and Reebok. After trying on a number of different fits and colours, I opted for the Nike Free 5.0. This shoe is ultra-lightweight, breathable and comfortable. The Nike Free styles are inspired by the bare foot so they also have a natural range of motion. I wear them to run and take Step and Zumba classes. I’m loving them! 2015 will be my healthiest year yet - how about you?

Resolutions - Healthy Eating

2015-01-08 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? I do. I really enjoy taking the time to reflect on the past year and decide what I want to do differently or better going forward. Each week over the next month, I’ll be writing about one of my resolutions and some of the ways I plan to achieve it in 2015. Resolutions – Healthy Eating Eating a healthier diet is one of the Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions year after year. After I’ve indulged in turkey dinner, cocktails, and Grandma’s baking over the holidays the New Year is the perfect time to reset and get into a healthier eating routine. Healthy eating in our busy and rushed world can be tough, so I decided to do a bit of research to make it easier. There are three things that really stood out to me when I was researching the healthy options available at Cornwall Centre: 1 – There is a large selection available for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack. 2 – The options available are made with FRESH ingredients. 3 - Every one of the restaurants/stores featured was founded in Canada…that’s pretty cool! Here are some of the great tasting, healthy choices that I’ll be eating and drinking this year: Freshii With two young kids at home, I’m always running a bit behind and I skip breakfast way too often which sets me up to overindulge later in the day. The other morning I got a breakfast egg pocket, freshly pressed juice and coffee from Freshii and trust me when I say, “It was GOOD!” The idea behind Freshii was to create a restaurant that helped people all over the world live healthier and longer lives by making healthy food affordable and convenient. Enter fibre-rich, slow-burning carbs, essential fats and lean proteins; the menu includes custom-made green wraps, salads, quinoa bowls, burritos, fresh pressed juices, and smoothies. Bonus: Freshii offers vegetarian and vegan options plus menu items that are nut & seed, shellfish, soy and/or gluten free. Check out their menu and nutritional information here. Extreme Pita Something I love about Extreme Pita is that they make kid meals, and my kids actually like them! A healthy selection of food and beverages that isn’t the typical hot dog and fries option. For me there are pita wraps, flatbaked pitas (pizza version), and salads - I’m quickly finding some healthy and delicious favourites. Everything is made to order so if you’re picky, you can choose the toppings you want! I found their Nutritional Guides with calorie, fat, carb, sodium content and more on their website. Last time I went to Extreme Pita I tried a Purblendz. They are all natural smoothies made with 100% fruit juice, frozen fruit, fresh veggies and all natural supplements. There are no added sugars, sweeteners, or yogurts making these smoothies both gluten and dairy free, and all natural with no fillers. Booster Juice Known for their beverage options like smoothies and fresh-squeezed Juices, Booster Juice also offers convenient and delicious hot food like fresh-made panini, quesadillas and wraps. At Booster Juice you’ll also find High Protein options as well as Superfoods like Wheatgrass, Kale, energizing Japanese Matcha Green Tea and Açaí, the Brazilian power berry. Select among a number of Boosters to add to your smoothie to give you a boost of Energy, Fibre, Calcium, Echinacea, Protein and so much more! I like Booster Juice a lot for breakfast or a snack. I started adding the Energy booster when I get an afternoon smoothie – it gives me extra energy into the evening. Whenever my kids are getting a little peckish during an afternoon shopping trip, a 'Strawberry Sunshine' always brightens them up. Visit their website to find the nutritional information for all their beverage, food and booster options. DAVIDsTEA Pop into DAVIDsTEA and choose from over 150 types of tea, including exclusive blends, seasonal collections, traditional straight teas and exotic infusions from around the globe. I recently discovered that they have the largest collection of organic teas and infusions in North America! Do you get that mid-afternoon sweets craving? I was wondering why that is and discovered it could be caused by stress, fatigue, boredom or eating an inadequate lunch/skipping breakfast. Instead of having a chocolate bar or can of pop, DAVIDsTEA has a solution! Give ‘Read My Lips’ (a chocolate mint dessert tea), ‘Red Velvet Cake’ (self explanatory), or any number of their dessert teas a try. Feeling under the weather? How about ‘Cold 911’ or ‘Detox’? Cold 911 is an organic blend of peppermint, juniper berries and apple with a soothing citrus and mint aroma. Detox is also organic and gives your system a reboot with rooibos, sencha, ginger, ginkgo, lemongrass, and juniper berries. Umi Sushi Umi Sushi is committed to offering healthy, fresh Japanese-inspired cuisine and I really like that Umi Sushi uses local ingredients and makes as much food as possible fresh in-house. The fish in sushi provides you with a low-calorie, high quality protein that is low in saturated fats and cholesterol. I’ll be opting for the salmon and tuna rolls as both are high in Omega-3 Fatty Acids - good for brain and heart health. Did you know that even seaweed is healthy? Nori contains a number of minerals including Iodine, magnesium, calcium, and iron. You’ll also get a dose of antioxidant phytonutrients and folic acid from eating sushi rolls wrapped in nori. If you are a ‘sushi-beginner’ give the Avocado, Cucumber or Green Dragon (yam tempura roll, draped with fresh avocado) rolls a try. Zam Zam Wraps Zam Zam Wraps are made with Tanour whole grain bread which has ZERO cholesterol, trans or saturated fat - it also has no preservatives! Select roasted Beef, roasted Lamb, chicken Shawarma or Falafel (vegan) topped with your choice of fresh veggies for a healthy, tasty option. Looking for something Vegan? Look no further, Zam Zam Wraps offers Vegan Tabouli Salad, Zotatoes, Hummos, Lentil Soup, Falafel, Zaatar Pie, Spinach Pie, and Mixed Veggie Pie. And guess what?! They’re just $2.50 each including tax! There are many more healthy options throughout Cornwall Centre’s Food Court. If you want to know more, visit their websites…most have easily accessible nutritional information so you can be equipped with information on both your healthy days and your cheat days.

Names, the year, and Merry Christmas are the most popular ways to have an ornament personalized. I decided to get one for my friend who had a baby this year. The Baby’s First ornaments can be personalized with the baby’s birth details like birth date, birth weight and birth length. You can select event ornaments such as wedding, anniversary, and graduation. These ornaments make wonderful keepsakes. Personalized by Santa: 306-569-1778 I just love this time of year, don't you?

9 to 5 Revamp

2014-11-11 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

Fall is here, winter is on its way, and I’m back to my regular routine. I wanted to revamp my 9-5 style with fashionable suiting and chic silhouettes, comfortable yet stylish shoes, and beauty products that make getting ready a breeze – obviously I visited Cornwall Centre! SUITING I walked into RW&CO., the store is stocked with stylish work wear for him and her! As I looked around I found full suiting, but they have so many options to match suit pieces with a stylish blouse, sweater or dress shirt. You can invest in the suit items and wear them in so many different ways. One of my favourite things about shopping at RW&CO. was the eye for detail. Their neck and bow ties, jewelry and bags are so stylish yet sophisticated, easy items to make my day-to-day style pop. When I went to Le Chateau, I was really impressed with their wide assortment of fits and silhouettes. Ladies can find work pants with a cigarette to flared leg, and men will find skinny and relaxed suiting. I also love that Le Chateau is constantly getting new stock; they definitely have you covered for work wear every season of the year. For the guys: I ran into Tip Top Tailors to look around for my husband, they carry everything you need for the work week – a huge selection of ties and pocket squares, jackets, suits, sweaters and more. Bonus! They have great sales going on all the time, and a professional on-site tailor. Note: I found out that items do not need to be purchased at Tip Top Tailors to take advantage of their tailoring service, they will tailor outside garments for men, women, and children! SHOES I’ve bought shoes at Le Chateau before to wear to a wedding or out on the town, but I just found out that Le Chateau exclusively carries The Moda Reflex collection - all pairs are under $100, check out the features: Town Shoes opened at Cornwall Centre in August (high five!)! They have an amazing selection from quality brand name designers like Sam Edelman, Nine West, Calvin Klein, Steve Madden and the Town Shoes collection, it’s an easy choice for me and my hubby. BEAUTY I don’t know about you, but I have a terrible habit of pressing the snooze button a couple of times every morning…and it only gets worse when the cold comes. As a result, I’m always looking for tips, tricks and products that get me out the door fast. Sephora opened at Cornwall Centre in June (another high five!)! On my last trip, I discovered they offer three services to help you revamp your beauty routine: Mini Makeover – Pop into the Beauty Studio and transform your look in just 15 minutes; get tips for a Smokey Eye, Faux Lashes, Flawless Foundation and more. Free in all stores. Custom Makeover – Transform your look and learn expert techniques in 45-minutes. Complimentary with a $50 minimum purchase; Personal Beauty Advisor – This 90-minute consultation includes a Custom Makeover and a personal shopping session. Complimentary with a $125 minimum purchase. I didn’t have lots of time, so I opted for the 15-minute mini-makeover and got some tips for an ‘everyday eye’, and I bought the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette which I’m LOVING (and so are tons of others, the palette has over 10K ‘loves’ on the Sephora website!) Next time, I think I’ll try the Personal Beauty Advisor service and I’ll call ahead to book (Sephora Cornwall Centre: 306-585-6200). The Beauty Boutique at Shoppers Drug Mart have amazing, knowledgeable staff to help you find exactly what you are looking for at a wide range of price points. I decided to buy Batiste Dry Shampoo, mascara (you can never go wrong with Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara), and Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in As You Want Victoria for a quick bold lip. The combo is sure to speed up my morning beauty routine. Now...get to work ;-)

Parking at Cornwall Centre

2014-11-04 18:00:00 -0600 + CC

So we all know that parking in Downtown Regina is a touchy subject. From the City handing out more tickets to most parking lots raising their rates, it’s often hard for people to justify paying for parking. I recently found out that Cornwall Centre has decided to LOWER the daily rate. That’s right, when everyone else is raising their rates, Cornwall Centre listened to their customers and decided to lower it. As of November 1, 2014 the daily maximum will change from $18/day to $14/day. The Daily Max Rate applies Monday to Friday and is charged after you are parked 6 hours or longer. This is a great option for people instead of worrying about plugging the meter or moving their car every few hours. As a mom of two busy little kids, I love using the Family Parking stalls located on the third level (P3) of the Saskatchewan Drive Parkade - the area near the paystation outside of The Bay. These stalls make it easier for families who use strollers and want quick access the shopping centre via ramps and the elevator. It's easy to go directly into the Bay or enter near the Food Court.Originally half of the stalls in that section were reserved but there are now 28 stalls designated for people with small children. Some people think that just because they have a carseat in their car, but don’t have their child with them, that they can park there. Security regularly patrols this area to be sure the rules are being followed and that the stalls are available for parents who need them. Here are some great features that haven’t changed about parking at Cornwall Centre: Convenient Saskatchewan Drive and Hamilton Street parkade locations Parking is FREE after 5:00PM and on Sundays and Holidays The daily max charged on Saturdays is just $4 You don’t get a parking ticket if you park longer than you expected, just pay an additional $2/hour! Covered parking Security patrolled parkades And one last thing; Cornwall Centre has decided to offer a Monthly Parking program starting January 1, 2015. This program provides scramble parking at $150/month in the Saskatchewan Drive parkade. It’s a great price for covered parking especially during the winter months. At this time the program is full, but you can call Donna at 306-565-5090 to get on the wait list. Happy Shopping!
